Food Waste

In 2020, nearly a quarter (24%) of the weight of Hertfordshire’s refuse bins was avoidable food waste – thrown away even though it was still edible.

This has a huge impact on the environment, contributing to 10% of total greenhouse gas emissions.

It also significantly harms your bank balance – the average UK family could save £720 per year by reducing food waste.

This short survey is to help understand why edible food is thrown away and help fight back against food waste.

Complete the survey by the deadline of Friday, February 4 and you’ll have the chance of winning £250 in shopping vouchers.

A paper version of the survey is available by emailing SustainableHerts@hertfordshire.gov.uk.
