What has the Parish Council done for Hunsdon?
2025 was a busy year for the Parish Council and among other things saw it:
- Maintain the Children’s playground, completing the installation of rubber mulch bases for the swings and finishing the Hunsdon Sports Court
- Installing 3 Winter grit bins at Wheatsheaf Road, Outside the Dell, Allotment entrance
- Making the case to HCC for flood alleviation works and emergency flood equipment in the High Street with a thank you to all the residents in the village for their patience before Christmas for the road closures due to the gully cleaning and CCTV investigations in the High Street and Drury Lane. We hope to have the findings of this soon. This will include any identified civil work that is needed to keep the culvert from Drury lane to the High St in a maintainable condition. Additionally we hope that work to re line sections of the watercourse will be carried out next financial year dependent on all other works being carried out first and costs.
- Statutory Consultee on all planning applications and housing developments in Hunsdon, representing the residents and advocating Hunsdon Area Neighbourhood Plan policy
Representing Hunsdon and existing residents on the ongoing major development for Gilston Garden Villages of 10,000 houses in the locality (1,500 in Hunsdon) - Work with Herts County Council (HCC) and Places for People to keep the footpaths open and accessible to residents across the airfield and elsewhere and negotiating improvements and better upkeep
- Regular public meetings to discuss matters of concern and debate
- Improve access to the Dell with concrete steps and ramp for wheel and push chairs and formulating plans for its future use as a tranquil wildlife area
- Looking after and running the 26 allotments in Drury Lane (2 current vacancies if you’re interested!)
